This presentation is designed to promote officer health and wellness by introducing yoga and mindfulness as practical tools for managing the unique challenges faced by law enforcement professionals. For first responders, trauma is inevitable; however, how you take care of yourself can change. This change is imperative to rewrite the alarming statistics surrounding officer suicide. Yoga isn’t just about stretching or touching your toes. It is a scientific, research-backed method for reducing the long-term effects of repeated trauma and prolonged exposure to stress. Mindfulness, when integrated through movement and breath work, can increase performance under pressure, compassion in the field, clear-minded focus, steadfast resilience, strength, and rest. In addition, mindfulness promotes better decision-making and improves performance at work and at home.
