July 13, 2020 - 31:58

How far away is your backup? In this podcast, John Bouthillette, a lead instructor with the VALOR Program, talks to retired Wyoming State Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Wilson. Trooper Wilson spent much of his career in rural areas where backup was 30 minutes away. He shares an alarming experience that changed him as an officer and the way he worked. Learn what changes Trooper Wilson made to increase his safety and what he recommends for other officers working in rural environments where backup is far away.
